chess_academy_of_armenia_logo2014.10.16-18 Yerevan, Armenia. ICCS (International Conference Chess in Schools).

In our view, this is the single most important chess in schools or chess and education conference EVER! You can download relevant information from our site (see links below), but the latest and most authoritative are available from the Chess Academy of Armenia.

Six years ago, Armenia decided to implement chess as part of the compulsory curriculum in all the country's primary schools.

After three years of meticulous planning and preparation, the first children entered this chess for education program in 2011.

Now, those children have just completed the 3-year program and all Armenian children in the two years below them have studied chess. The program runs from primary year 2 (age 7-8) to primary year 4 (age 9-10).

Throughout, teams of psychologists and sociologists from the Pedagogical University of Yerevan have been studying the effects of chess study on the children's educational, emotional and sociological development. These results will be revealed during the conference.

See the flyer for an excellent overview, together with the draft schedule , registration form and guidelinesfor the submission of articles and presentations.

You could win an expenses paid trip there. Read the guidelines, submit your proposed article/presentation and, if it is accepted, you've won!
