CASTLE Project – Final Conference – Turin 26 May
Tuesday, 02 May 2017 19:16
erasmuslogoThe CASTLE project began in 2015 with funding of almost €250,000 from the EU under the Erasmus+ scheme. The initial project now comes to an end with this conference. CASTLE is an acronym for a  Chess curriculum to Advance Students´ Thinking and Learning skills in primary Education.

The project has been run in parallel in three countries: Italy, Germany and Spain. 50 primary school teachers and 900 children have been involved so far. You can read more about the project here and below.

FIDE joined in the project primarily to fund the production and dissemination of almost 50 videos showing how to implement the early years part of the course – chess for very young children on a giant chessboard. More information and the Early Years Skills videos themselves – in Italian but with sub-titles in English (and shortly in German and Spanish as well) – can be found on the dedicated web site

See below for the Conference programme and contact details.

The Conference is in the Hotel Royal. The photos here are from the previous conference in Cuneo in 2015 and a schools event earlier this year, again in Cuneo.
