romlogoIn Romania's educational system, pupils unable to perform physical activities, may now take chess lessons during sports classes.

Following the protocol signed by the Romanian Chess Federation and the Ministry of Education, part of a long and fruitful co-operation between these two entities, the Romanian educational system now allows pupils who are, for medical reasons, exempted totally or partly from physical activities, to take chess courses during sport hours under the supervision of the sports teachers.

Attached is the relevant document addressed by the Deputy Minister of Education to local officials of the ministry (regional "general inspectors" and "sports inspectors") in charge of applying the regulations.

Our thanks to Ion Dobronauteanu for the information.
