The Ministry of Education and Culture, through the program for Living Together with Chess of the Directorate of Education, and the Uruguayan Chess Federation (FUA), hold the Pan-American Congress of School Chess, 26 and 27 July, at the Sheraton Montevideo (Victor Solino 349) hotel.

 The opening will take place on Tuesday, July 26 at 9:30 pm and will be attended by the coordinator Living Together with Chess program, Esteban Jaureguizar, President of the FUA, Bernardo Roselli, Chairman of FIDE’s Chess In Schools Commission, Kevin O'Connell and Vice President of FIDE America Darcy Lima.




Tuesday afternoon will have workshop discussions with experts around five themes: Chess and disability, Chess in situations of confinement, Chess initial level, Chess for youth at social risk and Chess in public and community spaces. In addition, Esteban Jaureguizar will speak on the theme of "Chess in school, playful to the scientific".

 The presentations will continue on Wednesday with the following topics: "Chess & Math", "Research on cognitive impact of teaching chess in Uruguay. Presentation of results "," Touch ... move! " and " Chess school in the world. Where we are and where we are going ".

Living Together with Chess aims at creating a network of cooperative work among all state agencies and institutions of civil society working with chess as a social and educational purpose. Through the program, it promotes this game / art / science manifests actively in educational settings and policies of human and community development.

 Chess is a cultural asset that contributes to develop a series of intellectual skills and ethical values, which is considered a very important role in the formation of children and youth element.

 This discipline encourages deep thought and developed, creating strategies, valuing each other's perspective, the subsequent evaluation of the actions undertaken, formulating theories and respect for the plurality of opinions, among others.

El Ministerio de Educación y Cultura, a través del programa Ajedrez para la Convivencia de la Dirección de Educación, y la Federación Uruguaya de Ajedrez (FUA), realizará el Congreso Panamericano de Ajedrez Escolar, que se desarrollará los días 26 y 27 de julio, en elhotel Sheraton Montevideo (Victor Soliño 349).



La apertura se realizará elmartes 26 de julio a las 9:30 horasy contará con la presencia del coordinador de Ajedrez para la Convivencia, Esteban Jaureguizar, el presidente de la FUA, Bernardo Roselli, el presidente de la FIDE Chess In Schools Comission, Kevin John O'Connell y el vicepresidente de FIDE América Darcy Lima.



El martes por la tarde tendrán lugar mesas de debate con expertos en torno a cinco ejes temáticos: Ajedrez y discapacidad, Ajedrez en situaciones de encierro, Ajedrez en nivel inicial, Ajedrez para jóvenes en situación de riesgo social y Ajedrez en espacios públicos y comunitarios. Además, Esteban Jaureguizar expondrá sobre el “Ajedrez en la escuela, de lo lúdico a lo científico”.



Las ponencias continuarán el día miércoles con los siguientes temas: “Las matemáticas del ajedrez”,  “Investigaciones sobre impacto cognitivo de la enseñanza del ajedrez en Uruguay. Presentación de resultados”, “¡Tocada… movida!” y “Ajedrez escolar en el mundo. Dónde estamos y a dónde vamos”.



Ajedrez para la Convivencia tiene como objetivo la creación de una red de trabajo cooperativo entre todos los organismos del Estado y las instituciones de la sociedad civil que desarrollan actividades de ajedrez con un fin social y educativo.



A través del programa se promueve que este juego/arte/ciencia se manifieste de manera activa en los ámbitos educativos y en las políticas de desarrollo humano y comunitario.



El ajedrez es un bien cultural que contribuye a desarrollar una serie de habilidades intelectuales y valores éticos, por lo que se considera un elemento muy importante en la formación de niños y jóvenes.



Esta disciplina estimula un pensamiento profundo y elaborado, la creación de estrategias, la valoración de la perspectiva del otro, la evaluación posterior de las acciones realizadas, la formulación de teorías y el respeto a la pluralidad de opiniones, entre otros.

School Instructor seminar Cap Aurora Romania

small1The first SI seminar to be held in Romania took place in Cap Aurora - Jupiter at the end of June.

17 participants, some of them chess coaches, others schoolteachers with little or no experience of chess, made an interesting mixed class.

The great experience of lecturer Vlad Ungureanu enabled him to bridge the gap between those with great pedagogic experience (but little chess) and those with great chess experience (but little pedagogical knowledge).
